GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT ASPEN SCHOOL PTO-Updated July 2010

 

OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE:  Promote and strengthen the relationship between home and school to give the children of Aspen Elementary the best environment to thrive and learn.

 WHAT WE DO:

 

  • Classroom Support – we give teachers & support staff money for classroom supplies and material at the beginning of each school year.
  • Field Trips – we help provide transportation funds for class field trips
  • Yearbook – we produce the school yearbook
  • Staff/Teacher Appreciation Week - we coordinate and host special breakfasts & lunches during this special week
  • Scholastic Book Fair – we help coordinate this event bi-annually, in the fall and spring
  • Hot Lunches – we coordinate and provide hot lunches for sale monthly
  • Scholarships – we provide at least one scholarship annually for a graduating senior who is an Aspen Alumni; we also provide free Hot Lunches and school supplies for our current Aspen Students that are in need.
  • Special Events – we promote fun events annually such as Meet the Teacher, Family Reading Night, Fall Family Picnic and Spring Fling School Carnival.
  • School Spirit Items – we sell Aspen spirit items such as t-shirts and water bottles
  • Fundraisers – we coordinate and hold fundraisers such as Innisbrook, Yankee Candles, Aspen Spirit Items and Scholastic Book Fairs

 

HOW WE DO IT:

  • Volunteers – our success is directly due to the support from our parents and  teachers
  • Fundraisers & Donations– With the elimination of Smith’s Earn & Learn funding directly to PTO, our budget is limited to the funds we raised through our 2 major fundraisers (Innisbrook & Yankee Candles,) the Scholastic Book Fairs, Aspen Spiritwear sales, and the generosity & donations of our Aspen Families.

 

MONTHLY MEETINGS:  4:30PM at Aspen School on the second Thursday of the month
