Site Council Meeting Minutes
Thursday, February 25, 2010
3:30 p.m.
Members Present Lisa Mietz, Kathryn Vandenkieboom,
Barb Poston, Jenny Deisburg-Lathrop, Nancy Strevell, Brenda Clark, Mike Fugate,
Peggy Sheridan, Leslie Wallstrom, RaeAnn Harp, Morrie Pongrantz
The meeting started at 3:35 p.m.
District Parent Council Report
Leslie Wallstrom is the
parent representative from Aspen School who attends District Parent
Council.Leslie attended the last
Parent Council Meeting and came to Site Council to discuss the topics.She shared with Site Council Members
about where the district employees are moving since they need to leave the
current buildings by summer.The
plan is to move to a building on Trinity that would be leased with the option
to buy.She discussed the changes
in leadership positions in the district (The Principal at the High School and
the Assistant Superintendent position).There was discussion about the new 13 million in referendum money.Leslie also spoke about how parent
council was asked to review the new calendar and what are some options in
redesigning the school year. The lab federal holidays and calendar trends that
particularly focus on High school students need to be taken into consideration.
Also, she reminded site
council members to attend the upcoming meetings concerning the cut-backs in
education.These meetings will be
March 2, 3, and 4th. See website for more information.The director of human resources
attended to discuss teacher contracts. Lastly, there were a few guests from the
laboratory who discussed programs that were available for High School and
College students.
LONG RANGE PLANNING SURVEY
Kathryn handed out the long
range planning survey from the board and conducted a discussion during which
members gave their opinion on saving money in the district.
