Greetings from your Guidance Department!
We are deep into 1st semester and want to update you on some of our guidance activities thus far. The students seem to be adjusted to the new school year; 7th graders are settled in and 8th graders are making progress towards completion of middle school. We have begun our academic counseling focusing on assisting students who need to improve their school performance. We have collected lunches for students in need as well as applications for families who need assistance over the holidays. We will focus our efforts on grief counseling for all impacted by the recent death of Logan Collins, one of our 7th grade students. On-going activities include meeting with students who struggle with peer issues and family stress. Finally, we have been working to incorporate the 40 Developmental Assets into our daily practice. One that seems particularly meaningful at this time is under the Support Asset: Vow to say one encouraging thing to a family member each day.
