Forms for daily announcements must be turned into the office by 12:45 the day prior to the day the announcement is made. The announcement must be approved by administration. Forms are available in the front office.

LAHS Announcements

September 9, 2010

 

The girls JV soccer team came away with an impressive victory against St. Michaels on Wednesday. The girls controlled the action and posted a 6 - 0 victory. Congratulation to the Girls and best of luck to the Varsity girls who travel today to Academy for a three day tournament. 

The Varsity boys and girls soccer teams will be traveling to Albuquerque Academy today thru Saturday for a tournament.  Today and tomorrow the girls will play at 2:30 and the boys at 4:30.  On Saturday the girls will play at 8 a.m. and the boys at 10 a.m.  Good luck.

 

Our C team boys and girls soccer teams will be playing at Dara Jones Field today—the girls will play at 3 p.m. and the boys at 5 p.m.  Good luck

 

Volleyball will be playing in the Zia Classic in Roswell on Friday and Saturday.  Good luck.

 

On Saturday our C team soccer girls will be traveling to Hope Christian to play at noon and our C team boys will be playing at Dara Jones at 2 p.m. against Santa Fe Waldorf High School.

 

 

·         Service Academy Night will take place tonight, September 9th, from 6:30 to 8:00PM, in Speech Theater. The military academies' representatives will present and be able to answer your questions.

 

·         UNM's BA/MD program representative will be presenting on medical school opportunities at UNM, on Friday at 9 a.m. In the Career Center. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

·         Boys Baseball meeting on Sept. 10th, at 7:30 a.m. in Griffith gym.  This meeting will be for anybody who is going to play baseball.  It will just be an informational meeting to get an idea of numbers as well as contact information. 

 

·         Due to the Monday holiday, this week Science Bowl will meet today at lunch in E-19.  If you have any questions, feel free to talk to Ms. Wangler.

           

·         Pegasus, the school’s annual art and literary magazine, will have it’s first meeting Friday, September 10th, during lunch in Mrs. Nadaskay’s room, E10.  Anyone interested in participating is welcome to join. (run thru 9/9)

 

·         Attention Baseball Players: There will be a meeting on Sept.10th, at 7:30am in Griffith gym. This meeting is for anyone who is going to play baseball.  It will be an informational meeting will give us an idea of our numbers as well as contact information. (run thru 9/9)

The renowned Close Up Washington High School Program is a 6-day adventure in which students experience firsthand the power of democracy in action. If this sounds interesting and you would like to get more information, see Mr. Montano in the
IMC classroom.

 

·         Homecoming nominations will begin Monday, September 13 at lunch outside Auxiliary Gym.  All students are allowed to nominate but only seniors can be nominated.

 

·         Attention NHS members:  there is a service opportunity at Aspen Elementary on Friday, September 10th.  They are having family reading night and need help from 5 pm to 7 pm.  See Mrs. Black in guidance to sign up ASAP.  They will also feed you pizza for volunteering. 

 

·         Want your summer picture in the yearbook?? Email them to lahsyearbook@laschools.net

 

·         The Environmental Club will meet TODAY in E-19 at lunch!  Representatives from PEEC and Yes-Corp will be there!  Please come and share cookies and ideas!

 

·         PLEASE, PLEASE have your picture taken today even if you are not ordering! We want your mug in the yearbook!  If do NOT have a Lang Arts class today and HAVE NOT had your picture taken, please tell one of your teachers so you can go have it taken!!

LAHS Announcements

  • Students in Mr. King and Mr. Buckland’s B Day classes should see them to get their picture day forms!  Thank you!

 

·         Service Academy Night will take place on Thursday, September 9th, from 6:30 to 8:00PM, in Speech Theater. The military academies' representatives will present and be able to answer your questions.

LAHS Announcements September 2, 2010 • Congratulations to our girl’s golf team as they won the Bernalillo meet yesterday. They also got a qualifying leg for the State Tournament in May. Miranda Olinger and Taylor Engleman also got a qualifying leg for state as individuals. Our volleyball team will be traveling to Albuquerque Academy today for a volleyball match beginning at 4 p.m. JV and Varsity Girls soccer will be going to Rio Rancho today for a match beginning at 4 p.m. • German Club meeting tomorrow Sept. 3rd. in T6 at Frau Boshier’s room during lunch! We will elect officers and plan activities. • Please join the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) for our first meeting of the school year will be tomorrow, Friday, September 3 in Mr. Easton’s room (T8B). All new members are welcome and don’t forget to bring a friend! • Today is GATE meeting day. If you missed the 7:40, please come to the 11:02 meeting in E-2. LAHS Announcements

September 1, 2010

  • Come to Café Scientifique to discuss Internet censorship and intrusions on privacy occurring here and around the world with Jed Crandall of UNM. Café Scientifique will be held on September 2, from 7-8:30pm at the Los Alamos Research Park Building where Hot Rocks is located. This program is free to all high school students and we’ll even pay you to carpool! (9/1 – 9/2)

  • All prospective Hilltopper Girls Basketball Players: We will be holding a pre-season meeting tonight, Wednesday, September 1, in the Speech Theater from 6 to 7pm. All players interested in trying out for this year’s team need to attend for important MUST HAVE information for the season. Please invite a parent to attend with you.

  • Any boy who is interested in playing tennis this year needs to meet after school in the Aux Gym bleachers for a meeting with our new head boys tennis coaches. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 3:10.

  • 5th Quarters are back and will be going on in Aux Gym Friday’s after the Football game. All Los Alamos High School students get free entry to the 5th Quarters. Get ready for games, prizes and pizza! LAHS student ID required for entry. The first of the 5th quarters will be this Friday on the 27th of August. See you after the gym at Aux. .
  • Chess Club will be meeting in Room S105, Ms. Cowan's room, during Lunch on B days.  Whether you like to play for fun or for competition, come see what the Chess Club is all about.
  • Boys basketball will be having a preseason meeting today at 3:30 in the Griffith gym boys basketball locker room.  If you are interested in playing basketball during the upcoming season and are not currently playing a fall sport please attend.  If you cannot attend for whatever reason please see Coach King in T 2-A.”
  • Are you interested in acting or working backstage?  Then the Olions Thespian Club is for you!  To find out more about our shows for this year, trips, and much more come to our first Olions meeting, after-school today, Thursday, August 26th in the Speech Theater.

  • Congratulations to the Varsity and JV Girls soccer teams as they defeated Belen last evening. 

  • Student Council:  There will be a meeting in Ms. Ploeger’s room, H-1, today, Aug. 25th to start of the school year. Show up if interested. (8/23-25)
  • If you are working at LANL, or still hoping to get hired at LANL, please see Mrs. Seidel in P-6B anytime today; before or after lunch!  Do not drop without seeing Mrs. Seidel 1st.
  • Remember the DECA Store is open in P-6B for your drink and snacking needs.  We have yogurt, Tuna Salad with crackers, Pizza Pocket Roll-ups and Chicken Monterrey Burritos available at lunch.  Come give us a try, you will be happily surprised!!!!  The DECA Store is currently not open on Wednesdays at lunch.
  • If you were already on the parking waiting list, please check with Mrs. Kauppila in the bookkeeping office in R-wing as to your current status.  Some additional spaces have been released and you MAY have gotten one!
  • Chess Club will be meeting in Room S105, Ms. Cowan's room, during Lunch on B days.  Whether you like to play for fun or for competition, come see what the Chess Club is all about.
  • Schedule changes end today at 3:15.  If a student still has a problem with their schedule, the Guidance Department will contact them.
  • First group advisement of this year is tomorrow, Thursday, August 26. Look up your advisor in PowerSchool or check with the main or guidance office, the library or the Career Center. Check the roster in your classroom to verify the location. Advisement begins after the 2nd period.

  • There will not be food service at UNM-LA until further notice.  They are changing vendors and do not know when food service will start up.
  • Senior Side Kicks:  There will be a meeting today, Tuesday, August 24th, in the Speech Theater (for Seniors Only).  Please show up to join the program. (8-23-24)
