The Aspen Elementary School community is one of the oldest in Los Alamos. Aspen Elementary has served its community since the 50s and has a place in the hearts of many. Several of its staff members attended school here in the early days, and community volunteers continue to take care of its gardens and even help direct traffic on particularly congested days.

Aspen Elementary is the school with the "big heart." Its nurturing and caring staff serves a student population that ranges from 415 to 455. Aspen is proud of its "international" reputation since students from all over the world go to school here. We have the largest number of English Language Learners of the district elementary schools. Russian, Polish, Korean, Indian, Chinese, Mexican, and Japanese students mingle easily with their American friends. The multicultural dimension of Aspen adds to the learning opportunities for all children.

Aspen is staffed by highly qualified teachers. Most have Master's Degrees and are Level Three teachers, the top rung of New Mexico's new 3-tiered licensing system.

Our goal is to prepare our students to be life-long learners as well as compassionate and involved citizens.
