All students planning to attend any Los Alamos Public Schools site during the 2023-2024 school year must complete the online registration. 

The Los Alamos Public School district uses SchoolMint Registration, an online data collection system, for student registration for each school year. The system is fully secure and environmentally conscientious, and allows the district to verify all student information prior to the start of the new school year. The registration system also allows for the electronic signing of all annual permission forms.

You will be asked to create a new SchoolMint account and enter information for each child. This information will be saved, and you will not have to re-enter this information in subsequent years. You will be asked to complete a form for each child attending LAPS. Be sure to select the correct school year when completing the online registration form.

Here are a few guidelines to help you determine which enrollment applies to your student:

  • Any student who is currently attending any LAPS school will be a returning student for the 2023-2024 school year. This includes out-of-district students who attended LAPS during the 2022-2023 school year, and students currently enrolled in the PreK program. Students currently in 6th grade moving from one of the district's elementary schools to Los Alamos Middle School or 8th grade students at Los Alamos Middle School moving to Topper Freshman Academy for the 2023-2024 school year are considered returning students.

  • Families who have students enrolling in kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year will complete a Returning Student Form if they attended LAPS during the 2022-2023 school year. Students who are new to LAPS will fill out a New Student Form.

  • An in-district transfer request may be made on the Returning Student Form.

  • Out-of-district students who wish to attend LAPS and did not attend LAPS during the 2022-2023 school year should apply using the Open (New Out-of-District) Registration Form.

  • If you now reside in a new Elementary School zone, please contact the secretary at your currently enrolled school. They will be happy to move your student application to the new school. It is not necessary to complete an Elementary Transfer Request.

  • Students who were homeschooled for the 2022-2023 school year who will be returning to LAPS for the 2023-2024 school year are considered returning students and should complete the Returning Student Form.

Families who attended Los Alamos Public Schools during the 2022-2023 school year will sign in to their existing SchoolMint account to complete the registration process for the 2023-2024 school year. This includes out-of-district students who attended LAPS during the 2022-2023 school year, and students who were enrolled in the PreK program and will be attending kindergarten. Students currently in 6th grade moving from one of the district's elementary schools to Los Alamos Middle School or 8th grade students at Los Alamos Middle School moving to Topper Freshman Academy for the 2022-2023 school year are considered returning students.

Open (new out-of-district) registration is for new out-of-district students including any student who lives outside of Los Alamos County or who previously attended a LAPS school, but has moved out of district and has not yet been accepted for out-of-district enrollment.
