Registration for the 2024-2025 school year for new students opens at 8:00 am on Monday, March 4, 2024. Registration for returning students will open later in the week.
All students planning to attend any LAPS site must complete the online registration process. Middle and high school students who completed course selection are also required to complete registration, as this is a different process than course selection. Please make sure to select the 2024-2025 school year when registering.
Students planning to participate on a sports team at the middle school or high school must also complete the athletics registration process through the Rank One Sports website. Physicals must be completed after April 1.
Los Alamos Public Schools is using PowerSchool Enrollment for registration. The district has streamlined this process for parents/guardians to minimize the time it takes to complete the registration process.
Here are a few guidelines to help you determine which enrollment applies to your student:
A student who is currently attending any LAPS school is considered a returning student for the 2024-2025 school year. This includes out-of-district students who attended during the 2023-2024 school year, and students currently enrolled in the PreK program.
Sixth grade students currently attending any LAPS elementary school who will be attending Los Alamos Middle School or current 8th grade students at Los Alamos Middle School who will be attending Los Alamos High School in 2024-2025 are considered returning students.
An in-district transfer request may be made using the Returning Student registration.
Returning student families will access the re-enrollment form through the parent powerschool account, https://laps.powerschool.com/public. If you do not already have a parent account, contact the school or Rosa Schmitz at firstname.lastname@example.org for help creating the account or add a student to your account.
Out-of-district students who wish to attend LAPS and did not attend a LAPS school during the 2023-2024 school year should apply using the New Out-of-District Student registration.
New students residing in Los Alamos County should use the New Student registration. New elementary students (PreK - 6th grade) should review the School Boundaries to confirm your elementary school site.
Admission to kindergarten as required by New Mexico State Statute (N.M. Stat. Ann. § 22-13-3), shall be made solely on the basis of chronological age. A child who is 5 years of age prior to 12:01 am MDT on September 1 of the school year can enter kindergarten at the beginning of that school year.
Students who attended the 4Y Preschool program who are enrolling in kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year may enroll as returning students for the kindergarten enrollment.
Students enrolling in kindergarten who are new to Los Alamos Public Schools will complete the New Student registration.
Preschool programs are available at all five elementary schools. A child who is four years of age prior to 12:01 am MDT on September 1, 2024 may enroll for preschool for the 2024-2025 school year using the New Student registration.
