Online Learning Options

Los Alamos Online Learning Academy

The Los Alamos Online Learning Academy is an educational choice for students in grades 5 through 8 who currently reside in Los Alamos County. Students who resided outside of Los Alamos County but attended LAOLA during the 2023-2024 school year will have the option of continuing enrollment. All students who attended LAOLA for the 2023-2024 school year should enroll as returning students at the school in which they are zoned or LAOLA.

The LAOLA curriculum aligns with the New Mexico Public Education Department and the Los Alamos Public School Standards to provide students with high quality instruction in an online environment. Students who are most successful in the online learning environment have reliable internet access, the ability to work independently, manage their time, engage in an online classroom, and have consistent support at home.

At Los Alamos Online Learning Academy, our goal is for every student to learn and thrive. This goal is achieved by:

  • building strong connections and relationships with students,

  • identifying and focusing on essential standards for student success,

  • practicing the effective and efficient use of technology, and

  • connecting and partnering with families.

At Los Alamos Online Learning Academy, every student is in a classroom with a highly qualified teacher from our community who is responsible for developing and delivering a grade-level appropriate educational experience. All core academic instruction will be delivered online. Families are viewed as important partners in the learning process and there is some time commitment from families to help their students stay engaged and accountable.
