Preschool
Los Alamos Public Schools offers 4Y preschool programs at every elementary school site.
The 4Y preschool program will be 5 days a week next year (2024-2025), Monday - Friday, on the same schedule as each elementary school.
Full school days allow for more balanced teacher and child-directed times. Students have more time in the classroom with their peers and with hands-on activities.
This schedule also allows for the school schedule to be the same for all students attending the elementary schools, and provide opportunities for preschool students to participate in events at the school sites, including special classes, such as Art, Music, PE and Library in the afternoon.
The Los Alamos Public School district uses PowerSchool Enrollment, an online data collection system, for student registration for each school year. The system is fully secure and environmentally conscientious, and allows the district to verify all student information prior to the start of the new school year. The registration system also allows for the electronic signing of all annual permission forms.
You will be asked to create a new PowerSchool Enrollment account if enrolling a new student. This information will be saved, and you will not have to re-enter this information in subsequent years. You will be asked to complete a form for each child attending LAPS. Be sure to select the correct school year when completing the online registration form.
Students enrolling in the 4Y Preschool program should use the New Student Registration.
Preschool programs for 3-year-olds are available for students on an IEP (individual education plan).
