Registration Information


The Los Alamos Public School District is continuing to utilize InfoSnap, an online student registration/data validation system, for new and returning students. The system is a secure and green process that will allow the district to verify all student demographics, proof of residency, emergency, and medical information for students prior to the start of the new school year. Beginning this school year, LAPS is also utilizing the student registration process to verify residency. This is important for the safety of our students and helpful in District planning. Additionally, the system allows for the electronically signing of the annual permission forms. If you do not have access to the Internet, contact your child’s school and you can make an appointment to use a school computer to complete the process or we will still make paper forms available if parents do not wish to use the online registration process.

Returning Student Registration Information
Returning student registration will be from April 5 to May 1, 2017.
 
When it is time to fill out the online form, you will receive a letter/email from LAPS with instructions on how to access the system for your student. The letter/email will contain a link and a secure “snapcode” that links directly to your student’s information. You will create an account that you will use each year for this process and submit a form for each student in your family. For those families with more than one student attending LAPS, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students within your family. We would appreciate all families to take action and complete these forms as soon as possible after receiving the letter/email. Your student’s registration will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. If you do not have access to the Internet, you may visit the respective school site and use a school computer to complete the process. Los Alamos Public Schools require that families prove residency upon annual registration of their student. A failure to provide the information may prevent enrollment in the school.  The document may be either uploaded in Infosnap or brought to the school for verification

Documentation For Residency Verification
Acceptable documents to establish physical residency include one of the following:
  •  Current (dated within the last 60 days) utility bill, or
  •  Current (dated within the last year) rental/lease agreement for the residence, or
  •  Current (dated within the last year) property tax bill, or
  •  Current (dated within the last 60 days) mortgage statement, or
  •  Deed, or
  •  House Closing Statement for the residence.

New To The District Student Registration Information
 
Only a parent with legal custody or a person, who serves as a formal guardian, with a Power of Attorney for educational and medical purposes, may enroll a child in the Los Alamos Public Schools.  Out of district students must go through the Open Enrollment process for admittance into LAPS.

New student registration for 2017-2018 school year will be accessible through InfoSnap on April 5th, 2017.

Proof of child’s date of birth
  • Birth certificate (state certified – no copies accepted), or
  • Passport/Visa, or
  • Other legal/notarized identification
Proof of parent/guardian identity
  •  Driver’s license, or
  •  Passport/Visa, or
  •  Motor Vehicle Administration identification card, or
  •  Other legal documents used for identification
Proof of parent/guardian relationship or custody
  •  Birth certificate which identifies the parents, or
  •  Court order, or
  •  Separation or divorce decree, or
  •  Other legal documents 
Current immunization record

Proof of residency to determine child’s school attendance area require the following original documents
  •  Current (dated within the last 60 days) Los Alamos County utility bill with name of applying family and the Los Alamos address,
  • AND one of the following:
  •  Current (dated within the last year) Original Rental/Lease Agreement for the residence, or
  •  House Closing Statement for the residence, or
  •  Current (dated within the last year) property tax bill, or
  •  Deed, or
  •  Current (dated within the last 60 days) Mortgage statement
  •  Other Residency Scenarios (Conditional Enrollment)

Athletics Registration Information
Athletics registration for the Middle School, Topper Freshman Academy, and the High School can use InfoSnap to register for athletics. If you do not have access to the Internet, contact your child’s school and you can make an appointment to use a school computer to complete the process or we will still make paper forms available if parents do not wish to use the online registration process.

Open Enrollment Information
Out of district students seeking enrollment need to go through the Open Enrollment process.


 
The School District is not placing additional out of district students for the 2016-2017 school year.


 
New Open Enrollment applications will be accepted on the first Monday in March through the first Friday in May, applicable for the 2017-2018 school year. Applications will be considered in the order that they are received. Parents will be notified if their child is accepted to attend Los Alamos Public Schools.
