Moving on UP

Kayla Salazar signed a letter of intent to play women’s basketball at Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo., on Monday. The 5-foot-7 senior guard averaged 16.6 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game for the Lady Hilltoppers, who went 22-8 on the season and reached the Class 5A quarterfinals for the second straight year.

She and fellow senior Ashlynn Trujillo were a potent group of guards for Los Alamos, and both will see each other twice a season in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Trujillo signed with New Mexico Highlands in November, and proceeded to average a team-high 16.7 points to go with 4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

NMHU plays at Adams State on Dec. 2 in the conference opener for both teams, with the Grizzlies heading to Las Vegas, N.M., on Feb. 4.
